From Quincy to Reuilly
When I bought my apartment in Paris in December 1993, I went straight down to the cave (cellar) for a look. Sure enough, I found a box of 11 bottles of Quincy wine.
Quincy is a nice dry white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. According to wine experts, Quincy wines are typically crisp with a wide
array of flavors and aromas such as citrus, mint, white flowers, exotic and green fruit. The Quincy wines in my cave were about 15 years old, and had aged nicely, as Quincy wines can do.
So, I always wanted to visit Quincy. But it was not until March this year that I made the trip. Quincy is a nice little French town. But there were no vines in sight. I was informed that the vines for Quincy wine are located south of the town.
Anyway, I decided to walk to Reuilly. A nice walk across a flat country.
The centre of France is rather flat. Half way through my walk, I stopped to eat a sandwich for lunch. As I was seated in the front garden of someone’s house, a man suddenly appeared from the house! What did he say?
Would you like a coffee or tea?
So we sat for a while in his garden with his son, and chatted while drinking tea. Who said that the French are not friendly and hospitable? Thank the
Lord for the French.
When I arrived in Reuilly, I also looked for the vines, but none were in sight.
The Reuilly vines are also south of the town. Reuilly’s appellation applies to white wines made from Sauvignon Blanc, red wines from Pinot Noir, and rosé from the latter and Pinot Gris.
They are also nice wines from the same family as Sancerre and Quincy.
